REDUCE ENERGY BILLS
Utility bills in California have been increasing by at least 15% in the last ten years and they continue to rise! Since sunlight is free, everywhere, and easy to harness, going solar is the solution that will help you save on your electricity bills. Instead of paying thousands of dollars to your utility provider, generate your own energy by switching to solar.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FEDERAL TAX CREDITS & STATE INCENTIVES 30% TAX CREDIT
Installing a solar system can give you a boost during the worst time of the year—tax season! There's 30% Federal Tax Credit for purchased home solar systems installed by December 31, 2026, and other state incentives.
AVOID NEM 3.0 AND GET GRANDFATHERED INTO NEM 2.0
Net Energy Metering 3.0 (NEM) is the proposal to incorporate fees to go solar, and to decrease the value of each unit of energy you produce. Although the decision on the proposal for NEM 3.0 has been postponed, there is a high likelihood that this will come into play soon. Best is not to take the risk, and switch to solar today.
California will be releasing the third iteration of net metering, or NEM 3.0. In February 2022, the state of California decided to delay making a final decision on net metering until further notice. As of May 2022, the earliest the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) could issue a draft decision is July, which would mean a final decision in August. We don’t know exactly how credit values will change, or what they’ll change to, but we do know that whatever happens will have large implications for solar market:
Your installation probably won't be completed very quickly because most installers are backlogged with work. Installers commonly have 6 to 8 months of NEM 2.0 installations to complete. However, TN Electrical and Solar Services can install within 1-2 weeks in AHJ San Jose and 1-2 months for the rest of AHJ in Bar Area that helps you to save money. As soon as your installation, final inspection are completed, you won’t be switched to Net Billing immediately because the utilities need time to update their billing systems and the final tariff design. You will have to sign up for the new “highly differentiated time of use rate plans” described below, but you will receive NEM 2.0 credit on an interim basis until December 14th, 2023, at the latest.
Anything that was installed in the 1950s, 1960s will need rewiring no matter how good it might look. You will need a modern fuse box that has the ability to shut off the entire system should anything happen so you don't get an electric shock.
A Main Panel Upgrade (MPU) is a Main Service Panel (MSP) where your existing main electrical box is upgraded to a new one with stronger circuit breakers. An MPU may be needed if the breakers in your electrical box aren't able to handle the additional electrical load provided by a solar power system.
In most cases, you will not need to upgrade your existing electrical panel to add solar energy to your home. You will only have to upgrade if your current breaker box is too small, old, or rated for a lower amperage.
If you have a 125A or smaller electrical panel, the general rule of thumb is that if you're looking to add solar energy with a system size larger than 8.0 kW, the main panel upgrade may be necessary or add a sub panel.
There are 2 main differences between ordinary electrical panels and solar ready panels.
First, solar ready services are designed with extra space (breakers) and clear markings.
These markings are necessary to help professional electricians and solar installers to quickly and easily identify the ratings and location of the solar system products (breakers), which ensures National Electrical Code® (NEC®) compliance.
However, what’s really great about solar ready panels is that you no longer need to backfeed your solar system. Instead, the solar ready panel routes the solar system output (electricity) to the main breaker and provides terminations to the load side of the meter socket.
In other words, all the main bus input (electricity from the solar system and the grid) will come from the main breaker, which will protect your bus from overloading. And because your bus has only 1 input instead of 2, you will no longer care about the 120% rule, you will be able to install any solar system size without the need to derate the main breaker or do any complicated connections.
Solar ready panels have numerous advantages such as it allows faster installation, well organized with fewer connections, which will eliminate pigtails and messy wiring, a great way to get around the 120% rule, so you can install any solar system you need, and finally, it’s very cost-effective.
If you installed your system a few years ago, batteries may not have made sense. But as the market changes and technology advances, you may find yourself wishing you could take advantage of energy storage. If you're wondering whether or not you can install batteries in your existing solar system, the answer is yes!
No, you don't have to. However, on average, homeowners in your area who invest in storage [the batteries] save 81% more over time than with panels alone.
Based on our experience, our rule of thumb is that 1 kilowatt (kW) of solar installed will produce 1,300 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year. So if your home uses 13,000 kWh per year, we'd estimate you need around a 10 kW solar system to meet 100% of your energy needs (13,000/1,300 = 10kW)
Other installers charge between $3.5 and $5 per watt, which results in the $35,000 to $50,000 range of a system 10kW (before any tax credits and incentives.) If you know your current energy usage, you can calculate how much you'll need to pay for solar panels. TN Electrical and Solar Services charges only $3/watt ($30,000) with a variety of the best solar equipment currently available on the market. Call us now.
We can offer you a solar system of 17 panels LG380, microinverter IQ8 plus, and an Enphase monitoring system combiner 4/4C less than $20,000
Most EV chargers pull 30-50 amps of current. If the EV charger were the only thing on the whole panel you'd be fine either way. If your home has a 100-amp panel you likely need to upgrade to a 200-amp panel before using your Level 2 EV charger. A licensed electrician can do the job.
Ineligible for Rebates and Incentives
With a solar lease, you do not own the system and therefore do not qualify for government or private rebates or incentives for the solar panels. Depending on where you live, the cash-based incentives may be significant enough to make purchasing solar panels a much better option.
The Home Can Be Hard to Sell
Although solar panels in general add value to a home, a home with leased solar panels can complicate a real estate transaction. If the panels cannot be moved, or the lease cannot be transferred to the new owner (either because they are disinterested or the lease originator will not agree), then you may have to pay more to break the contract.
Leasing loan rate will increase every year (0%-4%).

Yes, we are an RCSP. That means our clients who have purchased REC panels will receive 25 years of warranties on products, performance and labor. REC will find the nearest RCSP to do replacements for the clients if TN is ever out of business.
The REC Alpha Pure module does not contain any lead (Pb) in its production. This is due to REC Group's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, as lead is a toxic substance that can pose a threat to human health and the environment if not handled properly. By eliminating lead from the manufacturing process of their modules, REC Group aims to minimize their environmental impact and provide a safer product for their customers.
REC Group warrants that REC Alpha Pure modules will maintain at least 92% of their nameplate power output after 25 years of operation. This is backed by REC Group's industry-leading 25-year linear power output warranty, which guarantees that the module's power output will not decrease by more than 0.35% per year from its initial power output. This high level of performance and reliability demonstrates the quality and durability of REC Alpha Pure modules.
The REC Alpha Pure module can perform very well in high temperature environments due to its low temperature coefficient. The temperature coefficient is a measure of how much a solar panel's output decreases as temperature increases, and it is typically expressed in percentage per degree Celsius (°C).
REC Alpha Pure modules have a very low temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C, which means that their power output decreases by only 0.26% for every degree Celsius increase in temperature above the standard test conditions of 25°C. This low temperature coefficient helps to minimize the negative impact of high temperatures on module performance, and can lead to higher energy yields and improved overall system efficiency in hot climates or during heat waves.
To claim the solar investment tax credit in 2022, you will need to complete form 5695 when you file your tax return. On part 1 of the form, you will calculate how much you are eligible for, and then you enter that amount on your form 1040. Please check with your CPA or tax prepare. If you need help claiming the tax credit, you always can contact us at info@TNSolars.com
A battery backup doesn't just help you avoid the usage of carbon-based fuels, but it also allows you to maximize your solar panel system's potential. With a battery backup, you will again be using less or no electricity from the grid. Make sure to buy ones with a quality and reasonable price.
Your battery system is designed to charge solely from solar energy to maximize tax benefits. When you're in Self-Supply mode or Cost Savings mode (you can change these settings in the app), battery will automatically charge at the best time based on your local energy rates, whenever excess solar is available.
This depends on the size of your solar system and the amount of solar energy available, which varies by weather and time of day. Typically, larger solar systems charge faster. If you have a smaller solar system, and want to preserve power for an unexpected outage, you can select a higher reserve energy threshold in the app to ensure more battery power is available.
Each month, the energy bill from your local utility will include several key points that are important to understand:
If you installed a solar system in 2022, you will not be able to claim the tax credit until you file your taxes for the 2022 tax year, which will typically be due on April 15, 2023.
To claim the federal tax credit for solar, you will need to file Form 5695 with your tax return, which is the same form used for claiming the credit in previous years. You will need to enter the cost of your solar installation on line 1 of Form 5695, and then follow the instructions to calculate the credit on line 15.
It's important to note that the amount of the tax credit may vary depending on the cost of your solar installation and your tax liability for the year. Additionally, the tax credit for solar is currently scheduled to begin phasing out after 2022, so it may be worth checking with a tax professional to determine how much of a credit you may be eligible for.
If you have any questions about claiming the tax credit for solar or need help filing your taxes, you may want to consider consulting with a tax professional or contacting the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for assistance.
We strive to be in constant communication with our customers until the job is done. Please use the form for an estimate, or call us for any questions about converting your home or business to solar. We look forward to serving you!
